BANANA BISCUIT WITH NUTELLA®

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 cups All purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp. Sugar, granulated
  • 4 tsp. Baking powder
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 1 tsp. Baking soda
  • ¾ cup Butter, unsalted, cut into ¼” cubes

Banana-Butter Mixture:

  • 6 oz. Banana, sliced for the topping mixture
  • 3 oz. Butter, unsalted
  • 9 oz. Nutella®
  • * Powdered sugar & chopped hazelnuts, optional

Method:

Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt in large bowl to blend. Blend in ¾ cup chilled butter into dry ingredients until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add buttermilk and stir until evenly moistened. Pinch off 2 oz. pieces of the dough, form into square shape and place onto a parchment paper lined sheet pan. Pre-heat the oven to 350°F and bake for approximately 8 to 10 minutes until the biscuit is golden brown. In a sauté pan, place butter and banana puree until melted and a sticky glaze forms. Add the biscuit and coat with banana-butter mixture. Remove biscuit and add the banana slices, repeating the process. Plate biscuit, top with banana slices, and pour any remaining glaze over the top. Drizzle with ¾ oz. Nutella®. Garnish with chopped toasted hazelnuts and powdered sugar if desired.
